UPSC IAPS 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the form the candidates must know the complete UPSC IPS 2019 eligibility criteria in order to understand the requirement to be eligible for the examination. It is important to note here that the candidate who will not meet the eligibility conditions for the UPSC IPS exam 2019, their candidature will be cancelled even if he/she qualifies the prelims under UPSC IPS exam. So the candidates should understand the complete eligibility criteria and ensure that they fulfill all the requirements of nationality, age and education before filling the application form.

Eligibility Criteria for IPS Exam

Nationality:

for the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limits:

  • General category: Upper age limit is 32 years with on relaxation
  • Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST): Upper age limit is 32 years with 5 years relaxation
  • OBC (Other Backward Class): The upper age limit is 32 years, 3 years relaxation in upper age limit.
  • PH candidates (Blind, Deaf-Mute, Orthopedic): 32 years and relaxation of 5 years.
  • Servicemen Disabled From Their Duty: upper age limit is 32 years and relaxation for general category is 5 years, for OBC it is 6 years and 8 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

The candidate must hold a bachelor degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.

The number of attempts:

  • General: 6 attempts
  • SC/ST: No bar on the number of attempts
  • OBC: 9 attempts
  • PH candidates: For candidates belonging to OBC category-9 attempts and no limit for SC/ST candidates
  • Servicemen disabled from duty: No limit on the number of attempts
