The questions in both Paper-I (General Studies) and Paper-II (Civil Service Aptitude Test) will be of multiple choice, objective type for 200 marks each and the time allotted for each paper is two hours.

IAS Last Minute Preparation

Test-takers are advised not to study anything at all, one day prior to exam. Do not burden your brains with anything new. Take plenty of rest so that you remain fresh and have plenty of stamina for the final exam (i.e. IAS Mains). Eat nutritious food. Plan and prepare for the next day. Sort out the essential things that are required for the next day like ID card etc. Eat a wholesome breakfast preferably rich in proteins. Relax and engage yourself in fun-activities. Engage yourself in activities that keep you calm and help you to relax. Trust your capabilities and keep a positive attitude.

  1. History: NCERTs from 6th to 12th. Do not neglect old NCERTs of 11th and 12th standards. Be well versed in the names, events and year of occurrence.
  2. Culture: NCERT Class 11: An Introduction to Indian Art, Indian Art and Culture by Nitin Singhania, CCRT Website
  3. Polity: Indian Polity by Laxmikanth
  4. Geography: NCERTs from 6th to 12th. Maps of India and World. Questions are asked directly from the Atlas
  5. Economy: NCERT Class 12 Introduction to Macroeconomics, Economic Survey, Highlights of Union Budget
  6. Environment and Ecology: Details of National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Red data book and other relevant information.
  7. Science and Technology: Basics from NCERTs Class 6th to 10th. In-depth study is not required. Just an overview
