The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct combined graduate level exam (CGL). The SSC conducts CGL exam every year. The SSC releases notification to fill various posts in different government organizations. The SSC CGL exam is a computer based test. This exam comprise of two tiers of written objective type exam followed by computer proficiency test. The candidate can choose the preferred post at the time of applying for exam.

SSC CGL Educational Qualification for Different Posts

Compiler: The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree with economics or statistics or mathematics as a compulsory subject from recognized college/university.

Statistical Investigator Grade: The candidate should complete degree of any stream from any recognized college or university and the candidate should hold at least 60% marks in mathematics.

Assistant Audit Officer: The candidate should hold a degree from any college/university.

All Other Posts: Should complete degree from any college or university or equivalent.

Age Limit:

  • For some posts the age limit is 18-27 years.
  • For some posts the age limit is 20-27 years.
  • For some posts the age limit is 20-30 years.

There is age relaxation based on the category of the candidate

  • SC/ST – 05 years
  • OBC – 03 years
  • PH – 10 years
  • PH + OBC – 13 years
  • PH + SC/ST – 15 years
  • (For Group “B” & “C” posts) Ex-Servicemen( Unreserved/General )—–03 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the Closing date for receipt of application
  • Ex-Servicemen (OBC)—–06 years (3 years + 3 years) after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the Closing date for receipt of application.
  • Ex-Servicemen (SC & ST) —— 08 years (3 years + 5 years) after deduction of the military service  rendered from the actual age as on the Closing date for receipt of application

Application Fee:

  • For general male candidates the application fee is Rs.100/-.
  • For SC/ST/OBC and female candidates there is no fee.

SSC CGL Recruitment Application Process:

  • Visit official website www.ssconline.nic.in
  • Find apply for SSC CGL exam.
  • Registration form will be opened.
  • Fill all the details in the form.
  • Upload photograph and signature.
  • Pay fee online if applicable.
  • Click on submit button.
  • Take hard copy of application for further use.

  • The exam is conducted for 200 marks.
  • The duration of exam is 1 hour.
  • There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

  • The duration of each paper is 2 hours.
  • Each paper is conducted for 200 marks.
  • There is negative marking of 0.25 marks in Paper II and 0.50 marks in Paper I and Paper III.

Tier III Exam Pattern

  • This is a descriptive type pen and paper based exam.
  • The duration of exam is 1 hour.
  • The qualifying mark for Tier III exam is 33 percent.

Tier IV Exam Pattern

The tier IV exam is computer proficiency test or Data entry skill test which would be a qualifying nature.
