50% Reservation for Women in Upcoming RPF Recruitment 2019

Indian Railways is preparing to provide employment to the youth at large scale. Central Railway Minister Piyush Goyal during a program in Bihar capital, Patna said that his department is going to recruit 9500-10000 personnel in the RPF (Railway Police Force) soon, 50% of which have been reserved for women. Simultaneously, 1,30,000 posts will be recruited soon in the railway, for which CBT (Computer Based Test) will be done and this recruitment will be done without interview.

About RPF

Railway Protection Force shortly called as RPF is a security force of India, which is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting railway passengers, passenger area and railway property of the Indian Railways.

The force, which was introduced for the first time in the central act of 1957, has as many as 70,000 people working with it, making it one of the biggest workforce in the country. It comes under the authority of the Ministry of Railways and has the power to arrest, investigate and prosecute criminals.

  • Protecting railway passengers, passenger area and railway property.
  • Facilitating passenger-travel and security by removing all anti-social elements from trains, railway premises and passenger area.
  • Being alert to prevent trafficking of women and children and take appropriate action to rehabilitate destitute children found in Railway areas.Co-operate with other departments of the Railways in improving the efficiency and image of the Indian Railways.
  • Act as a bridge between the Govt Railway Police/local police and the Railway administration.
  • Proactively adopt all modern technology, best human rights practices, management techniques and special measures for the protection of female and elderly passengers and children.

Key Highlights of Railways to give 50% reservation to women in RPF Recruitment 2018

  • The Railways has decided to provide 50% reservation to women in the upcoming RPF recruitment process, which will involve recruitment of around 9500-10000 RPF jawans.
  • Around 10,000 jobs are expected to be created in the RPF. The recruitment for the same is expected to begin soon.
  • The recruitment process will reportedly be fully computerized, based on a computer test, to maintain transparency. There will be no interview rounds for final selection.
  • Besides, the Railway Ministry has decided to install CCTV cameras at 6000 stations and important trains.
