The UPSC exam is conducted every year. This exam was conducted to fill civil servants across India. There are around 24 civil services in India. To get job in these 24 civil services one should clear UPSC exam. The candidates who want to work in civil services can apply for UPSC exam.

To apply for any government exam, there are some eligibility conditions to apply for job. Like this for UPSC exam also there are some eligibility conditions. The UPSC has eligibility conditions like educational qualification, age limit and nationality. Out of these age limit plays an important. The candidates has to check age limit before they are going to apply for the exam.

The UPSC board has set age limit to candidates of different categories. For each category the age limit is different. The minimum age limit is same for all category students. The maximum age limit is different for different categories. The age is very important when one is going to apply for UPSC exam.

There are many categories in India. They are candidates belonging to general category, OBC category, SC/ST category, female candidate’s category, physically handicapped category, ex-servicemen category, citizens of Jammu and Kashmir category, and defence personnel disabled category.

UPSC Age Limit:

The UPSC age limit has lower age limit and upper age limit. These both are the main points to be known by the candidate before applying for the UPSC exam.

UPSC Age Limit – Lower Age Limit

The candidates who are belonging to different categories the lower age limit is same. The lower age limit to apply for UPSC exam is 21 years of age. The age of a candidate is calculated according to August 1 of exam applying year. If a candidate is going to apply for UPSC exam 2019, then the candidate should complete 21 years as on date 21-08-2019. Otherwise the candidate is not eligible for the exam.

UPSC Age Limit – Upper Age Limit

The upper age limit means after the prescribed upper age concerned by UPSC the candidates are not eligible for the exam. The UPSC upper age limit is different for different categories. The upper age limit for general candidates is 32 years. For remaining categories upper age limit is different because age relaxation is given for remaining category students.

The age relaxation is different for various category candidates. For OBC candidates the age relaxation is 3 years, for SC/ST candidates the age relaxation is 5 years, for citizens of Jammu and Kashmir the age relaxation is 5 years, for defence personnel disabled the age relaxation is 3 years, for ex-servicemen the age relaxation is 5 years and for physically handicapped candidates the age relaxation is 10 years.

UPSC Age Limit – Cumulative Age Relaxation

Apart from mentioned age limits, the candidate will also have cumulative age relaxation. Age limits will be added in special cases. For example, if a candidate belongs to SC/ST category and the candidate is an ex-service man, then the candidate will get 5+5=10 years of age relaxations. So, then the candidate’s upper age limit will be 42 years.
