Prefer light color clothes to suit the interview. Please avoid fancy shirts and sarees.  Wearing fancy shirts or clothes tend to distract attention of the interview board members.

Keep Your Mind Calm

Many candidates who attend first time for the IAS interview feel tensed. In tension the candidates unable to answer few questions. Be relaxed so you can easily face the interview.

The IAS interview is mainly conducted to assess candidate’s personality, traits, handling a tricky situation and ability to work hard. After entering in to the interview it is an intensely political environment.

During the interview if you don’t know a particular answer, say politely. Do not try to act smart by answering the unknown question. By doing like this the members will feel insulted and that will be the end of your interview and that year’s attempt will be wasted. The members who conduct the interview has a vast experience and knowledge so they can easily know when a candidate is trying to fool them.

In IAS interview answering the questions requires presence of mind. If the members ask you a recall or memory based question, you either answer to it or say you don’t know. The members also questions based on the hobby you mentioned in mains form. Know everything you mentioned in IAS mains form

Be On Yourself

Sometimes the candidates are asked to ascertain their firmness in making decisions or statements. Once you say correct be on that answer only, if the member confuses you don’t change your answer. Stick to the one answer.

Give answers to the board members in a polite manner. By answering in a polite manner the board members will have a great impression on you.

Even when consensus is not possible just say that you respect his or her view but do not agree with it. But in case you realize that the member was correct after all, then you should admit it and thank the person for shedding extra light on the topic, which you were unaware of.
